Description

Elongate, ovate, higher anteriorly, dorsal margin straight, posterior end of LV angular; LV hinge with elongate, crescent-shaped, denticulate sockets and median smooth bar; line of concrescence and inner margin nearly coincident, pore canals straight, widely spaced; surface smooth, punctate, reticulate, or ridged. [Species assigned to this genus by MANDELSTAM and LYUBIMOVA seem to have only the hinge structure in common and are not all congeneric. Eucythel'e denticulata is judged to be congeneric with Clithrocytheridea dectlmana TRIEBEL but has been assigned by HOWE & LAURENelCH (1958) to Asciocythere SWAIN.]
