Description
Valves quadrilobate but lobes unequal, L1 being elongate (linguiform in some species), L2 ridgelike, L3 and $L_{4}$ confluent dorsally though separated by a fissure ventrally, sulci unequal, S1 elongate and rather narrow, S2 deeper and wider than other sulci and reaching from hinge line to ventral part of valve, S3 a fissure confined to middle and ventral parts of valve, ventral ridge or histium developed only along anterior and ventral sections of free border.
